Metal Spinning is pretty close to what its name implies. Metal parts are formed using a combination of pressure and high-speed rotation. It can be done in two ways: by hand using fulcrum and lever techniques or by highly automated CNC-controlled spinning lathes, which improve cycle times, tolerances, surface conditions and cost. It is used to create axially symmetric parts such as cones and cylinders.
Here’s a look at some products created using metal spinning.
Sample ConesCone configurations lend themselves ideally to the metal-spinning process. Whether the application is for food service, aerospace, plastic injection molding, construction equipment or agricultural purposes, we have the equipment to produce various cone configurations from 5” up to 120” in diameter. With our inventory of more than 25 CNC machines, there is no size or material we cannot tackle—from the most difficult configurations to the toughest abrasion-resistant materials, we can resolve your engineering requirements. We currently produce cones in materials such as steel, galvanized, stainless steel, copper, brass and high-tensile/high-strength materials for those difficult applications. The use of multiple forming techniques, such as the combination of deep drawing and metal spinning, allows us to produce a wide variety of configurations to tighter specifications than our competition. Sample CylindersCylinders can be used as is, or we can enhance the product by adding flanges, reducing depth, applying holes, notching or adding spun features to your cylinder. Through metal spinning the potential variations of configurations are endless. Rolled and welded cylinders are used in a wide variety of applications, including but not limited to: aerospace, food processing equipment, vibratory separation, outdoor furniture, power generation and communications. The use of rolled and welded cylinders for your application helps reduce and/or eliminate labor costs by eliminating the need to weld subcomponents, and it can greatly enhance the aesthetics of your product for your end-user. We currently provide rolled and welded cylinders up to 66” in diameter and 53” in width/height. Materials include all variety of steel, galvanized, aluminum and other exotic materials. Sample Fan Panels Whether you’re looking for one piece or 1,000 a week, we have the ability to meet all of your fan panel requirements. Fan panels, also referred to as curb caps, fan housings, venturis, fan orifices, exhaust fans and wall fans, are a specialty product we provide. We offer stock tooling for fan panels, open to all our customers and potential clients. Our tooling allows you to design around our standard tooling with no up-front cost to you. This offers you the ability to design, test and make changes to your air movement requirements with little or no product development costs. From chilling units to engine cooling, our fan panels are in the field. We combine our stock tooling with the ability to add any hole configuration you desire for motor mounts or screen applications. Press breaking services are also available, providing you a product ready for assembly. If you cannot utilize our stock tooling for your application, don’t worry: we build and machine almost all our own tooling in-house and can provide you fan panels to your exact dimensions. Common materials are aluminum, steel, galvanized and stainless steel. You can send a request to quote to email@example.com, submit an online quote request or call us at 260-665-2158. Sample HeadsWe offer a standard line of tooling for flanged and dished heads. Flanged and dished heads are employed in a wide variety of applications from water storage tanks, cement mixer drums and agricultural spraying tanks to nuclear containment storage. Flanged and dished heads are simply a domed tank end with a flange. We offer you our standard line of tooling of F&D heads. Our standard stock tooling allows you to design, test and go into production with no up-front costs. We produce F&D heads in a wide variety of materials including steels, high-strength/high-tensile, abrasion-resistant materials, most aluminum alloys, stainless steel, copper, brass and other exotic materials. We can produce in gauges from .022” to ¼”. Specifications will vary based upon material thickness. If you require an F&D head that does not meet our standard tooling, don’t worry: We build most of our tooling and can offer a competitive quote for your exact dimensional criteria. If you are designing a tank or other product and require an F&D head, you can send a request to quote to firstname.lastname@example.org, submit an online quote request or call us at 260-665-2158.
Sample HemispheresWe provide standard stock tooling for many popular hemisphere sizes. For applications ranging from lighting, floats, playground equipment, enclosures, aerospace, nuclear containment and ordnance, we can provide a cost-effective solution to your hemispherical needs. Our stock tooling is available to all our existing and potential customers. We can provide your required hemisphere in gauges from .036” up to ¼” thick. We currently provide hemispheres in a variety of materials, including steels, high-strength/high-tensile, abrasion-resistant materials, most aluminum alloys, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel and other exotic materials. If our stock hemisphere tooling does not meet your requirement, we can provide cost-effective tooling for your exact dimensional requirements. *Note: diameters will vary based on material thickness.
